Mrs. Heflin, We loved reading your blog and actually decided to do that instead of read our chapter book. By the way...we finished the chapter book you started about Babe Ruth's missing baseball. Our class had several questions for you...Here they are: 1.) Have you made new friends? 2.) What have you done that is exciting? 3.) What is the weather like in China? 4.) What is your favorite food there? 5.) Which foods are strange? Eek! 6.) How long was your flight to China? Was it good and what did you do? Tomorrow we walk to Meadow Hill to carve pumpkins and we will send you pictures of your creations! The weather here has turned cold, but it is still sunny! We are now working on zipping our coats and missing you now more than ever! :) We have been doing different Halloween activities and look forward to our party on Thursday! Keep in touch...We miss you! Love, The Bury Bunch P.S. Can we give this address to parents so they can see our blog too?

Finally in China!

Hello from China!

I miss you all.  I hope that you had a nice weekend and are ready for another week of school.

I am in Hangzhou (you say it like "Han Joe") now. It was a very long trip to get here.  I flew on an airplane for over 12 hours… that is longer than your day at school! Here is a picture of us getting ready to get on the plane. It was so early that it was still dark outside! The picture is a little blurry, but this is the only one I have.

The city that I am living in is very large. There are over 9 million people here! When I look out my window, this is what I see.  There are tall buildings everywhere you look.  It's very different than the wide open spaces we enjoy in Montana.

I have met many very nice people here. People are very excited to speak English with me.

The food here is very different than it is in America. Some of the foods seem very strange to me, but I have tried a little bit of everything. These are foods that the Chinese people eat every day. Most of it has been delicious!

This morning, I was introduced to the school. The school gave me a beautiful silk scarf as a gift.  I learned that, in China, when you give or get a gift, you use both hands to hold it.

Now, it is time for me to observe an English class being taught.  I'm so excited to meet the students! I can't wait to write you about it!

Have a wonderful week and Happy Halloween on Thursday! I am looking forward to seeing your costumes.

Love,
Mrs. Heflin

Keeping in Touch

Good morning class,

I will be leaving for China soon, and I would love to stay in touch with you! Mrs. Salisbury and I have set up this blog so that we will all have a way to communicate while I am away. I hope to write to you once a week. You can write to me anytime you have a question or something exciting to share. I can't wait to see your Halloween costumes!

Love,
Mrs. Heflin
